Also known as agile manufacturing, this is a term applied to an organization that has created the processes, tools, and training to enable it to respond quickly to customer needs and market changes while still controlling costs and quality.

An agile organization is capable of reacting successfully to handling the emergence of new competitors, rapid advancements in technology and sudden shifts in overall market conditions. Within any agile organization there is a shared purpose, as opposed to traditional organizations. Agile teams are capable of delegating and handling such changes in innovative and effective ways.

Product development in agile organizations will involve input from various team levels with customer focused objectives.
